Hi! We are Suki & Steve

Our story

We're Suki and Steve, brought together by a shared love of food. There's a nostalgia to the Mediterranean landscape that both of us carry, and it's what Mediterranean Food Journeys was built around.

We moved to the Catalunya in 2022 with one dream: to open our own cookery school. We've since bought a masia, which we're slowly renovating in the hope of getting closer to that dream. In the meantime, we run hands on cooking workshops and retreats, built around the same techniques we hope to teach at the school one day: how to cook fresh, seasonal dishes through intention and quality. This small corner of Catalunya is full of artisans, young and old, doing quiet, extraordinary work, and our workshops are built around learning from them directly, alongside the guest chefs we host from time to time, each one bringing their own style to the kitchen.

We live on the Costa Brava with our two children Rocco & Joie.

Steve

CHEF & FOUNDER

Steve trained as a chef in France, Greece, Spain, and the UK, working in kitchens including three star El Celler de Can Roca and two star The Clove Club. He also founded Dalston's, a low sugar soft drinks brand, before returning fully to food. For the last ten years he's worked as a private chef and cookery teacher across Spain and the UK, alongside Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, and as Head of Chef Training at Migrateful, working closely with migrant and refugee chefs. Steve is our primary cookery teacher: charismatic, warm, and full of stories, with a knowledge of food that runs as wide as his background. He leads our retreats, classes, and catering, on the ground and in the kitchen, every time.

Suki

BACK OF HOUSE & FOUNDER

Suki grew up between England and Cadaqués, surrounded by good food and hospitality in her family's restaurants in London and Catalunya. She's worked in restaurants around the world, including alongside Russell Norman and Florence Knight, and managed her family's restaurant, The Abingdon in Kensington, with her sister. Suki is also a trained masseuse, yoga teacher, and sommelier. She's currently focused on raising their children, and hopes to host again before long. Until then, it's her planning and her eye for detail behind every retreat Steve leads.
